Using the right materials for any project is vital to a successful outcome. We
believe that materials should be chosen for their aesthetic appearance,
durability, and minimal impact upon the environment, and of course economics.
As architects, we are experienced in appraising building products under these
performance indicators and we can guide our clients to the most appropriate
choices. Wherever a more ‘eco-friendly’ alternative exists to a less-so product or
construction method, we can advise on the long term benefits. This includes the
use of ‘super insulation’ and sustainable energy installations such as solar hot
water heating, ground source heat pumps, or condensing boilers with weather
compensation.
As our fees are based on the work we need to undertake for a given project
(and not the common, simplistic percentage of construction cost
approach), should the more sustainable alternative carry a larger capital
outlay this does not result in increased professional fees.
Natural materials are favoured by us, as not only are they sustainable if sourced,
managed and handled correctly, but also they tend to be in harmony with the
well-being of people - we all like the warmth of natural wood for example.
EnSen Design is also experienced in modern building methods which, through
efficient material usage and often off-site production can offer benefits in time,
money, and finished quality.
For commercial clients we can provide industry standard NBS format
